Holidays for every kind of traveller in Spain
Whether you’re a culture vulture or you love spending time doing stuff like climbing, kitesurfing, and canoeing, different destinations will hold different levels of appeal.
However, if you want a country that offers a bit of everything, then Spain is a really great choice.
The Costa Blanca and The Costa del Sol offer those sunny beach holiday resorts that have been drawing millions of visitors from cooler climes across Europe for more than fifty years on package holidays. The whole of the Mediterranean coastline of Spain is almost given over to this kind of tourism and if you’re looking for a sea and sangria week, then this is probably the place to head to.
You can book Benidorm holidays from Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and London to name but a few UK cities where holiday companies fly out from.
However, you can also fly in to one of the coastal airports and head for the interior of Spain, where there’s plenty of climbing and hiking to be done. And then there are the cities like Madrid, Barcelona and Granada, each with fascinating architecture and culture.
And the Spanish islands each have their own charms – and their own identity. The islands of Mallorca and Menorca are great for those bucket and spade holidays, but are small enough for you to see plenty of them – especially if you hire a car for your trip. This way you can get off the main tourist trail and see a little more of what these islands are really like.
The Canaries too are great places to explore by car, and there is some amazing terrain to be seen here, with the volcanic nature of the islands still very much in evidence. Both Lanzarote and Tenerife have national parks where you can get up close and personal to the volcanoes.
Before you decide where to go in Spain, think about what kind of travel experience you are after and then read up about the different cities you could fly to. Of course, you can always go again and see a totally different side to Spain on your next trip.
